I wrote this software to convert multiple MIDI files to Type 0, the type required for the GNX4 drum machine. It's easy and convenient to convert a bunch of MIDI files in a couple of clicks.

Features

• Accepts multiple input files or an input directory, in which case it ignores non-MIDI files.
• Optionally remove all volume events
This helps to keep the drum machine level unchanged.
• Optionally to remove all control messages
Useful to remove unexpected preset or parameter changes when played.
• Option to keep the drum track (MIDI Channel 10) only.

Installation

Just extract the zip file to any directory you want and click on "midi_converter.jar". There's no installer.

The software is written on Java, and should work on all major platforms that have Java installed such as Windows, MAC OSX and Linux. If you don't have Java installed you can download the most recent version at http://java.sun.com. Download the "JRE" (Java Runtime Edition) not the JDK (Java Development Kit).

Version 1.1

• Added the ability to select one or a bunch of files.
• Added an option to keep only the drum tracks (technically any message that is mapped to Channel 10).
• Added an option to remove all Program changes.
• Added an option to remove all Control Messages.
• Modified the GUI to indicate the conversion progress of an individual MIDI file.
• Changed the File Browser title to indicate the current operation (like selecting input files or output directory)
• Changed the Text Area to include some brief instructions, and a little about.
• Fixed a bug in which if an output directory didn't exist it didn't get created.

• Initial release. Converts a MIDI type 1 file to a MIDI type 0 file.
