Ive spent a fair amount of time over the last few months studying different speaker cabinet designs, reading some books and websites devoted to this subject. I suspected which path I would choose but wanted to be certain before I made my first cut. The construction I decided on is one based on a book by London Power Press "London Power DIY Speaker Cabinets for Musical Instrument Applications"
http://www.londonpower.com/books/spkr.htm. As I may have mentioned in an earlier post this cabinet design is based on a 4x12 cabinet but utilizes only 2 speakers and 2 ports. The port size and and internal cabinet volume are very specific. Im going to stray from the authors design and actually build it to accept 4 speakers but 2 of the holes will have reducing plugs to create the correct port size. This will allow the installation of 2 additional speakers should I wish to try it as an actual 4x12 at a later date. The cabinet will be closed back with either a removable panel or perhaps an adjustable one for an open back option.
I have chose maple and cherry for the wood and 1 Celestion Vintage 30 and 1 Celestion G12h speakers. There will also be a Marshall Stereo/Mono input selector for connecting to my other gear. Fender oxblood grillcloth
